Sunderland complete Steed Signing

Sunderland have completed the signing of Spurs midfielder Steed Malbranque for an undisclosed fee.

Malbranque has signed a four year deal at the Stadium of Light to join his former team mates Tanino and Chimbonda.

Delighted Sunderland manager Roy Keane was pleased to have finally got his man.

Keane told safc.com "Steed is another signing which will excite our supporters and we`re delighted to have him here."

"He`s played in The Premier League for six or seven years now and has been a consistent performer for both Tottenham and Fulham - he creates a lot for the team and can chip in with a goal or two."

"Steed is a very tricky player and is always looking for the ball and looking to open teams up."

"He`ll certainly offer something different to our team and will further increase competition for places in the midfield area."

Vital Sunderland Says

Malbranque has to be Keane`s best signing to date and I still can`t believe he has signed.

Great signing for you. I was really hoping he'd stay as he's proven and a non-stop worker. Puts in 110% effort every game. Good luck Steeeeeed.

He will do really well for you, top player cannot fault his attitude, was constantly played out of position at Spurs so never really given a proper chance, but his attitude through-out was excellent. Good luck Steed and thanks.

Top signing for you boys. I for one will give Steed and Teemu a massive reception when they return to the lane on the 23rd, proper team players both of them. Also on his day Chimbonda is the best right back in the prem...

We'll miss him. Quality on the ball and great work rate. Probably the best signing you will make this summer. Look after him! Good luck Steed and thank you.
