Sunderland striker extends stay

Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy has penned a new deal at the Stadium of Light. Murphy`s new deal will keep the young Irish man at the club until 2012.

A delighted Murphy told safc.com "It`s pleasing, I`ve always wanted to stay here and it`s nice to get the extension.

"It` a big club, the supporters are great and we`re going in the right direction. It`s a different club to the one I joined three years ago."

Vital Sunderland Says

Murphy has improved vastly since first joining the club if he could only become more clinical in front of goal he could be awesome.
