'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Curbs and Big Sam Confirm Interest

When asked about the Sunderland job, here is what Curbishley had to say...

'Would I be interested? I think it's more a case of Niall and the board having to be interested in me. We will have to see what happens.

'They did fantastically well to win promotion in the first place and they consolidated last year.

'I must admit I didn't expect Sunderland to be where they are at the present, but you can go on these runs in the Premier League.

'Sunderland have gone seven or eight games (with just one win), Blackburn have gone eight or nine games (without a win). You can do that in the Premier League.

'You've got to stop that run somehow. It's difficult, but the next week comes along and there's another opportunity to do it.'

Ex Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce also had his say, stating ...

I've said over the last few days that I would like to get back into managing a football club and I'm bound to be linked with Sunderland at the moment.

'I've worked there twice before; once as a player and once as a coach with Peter Reid, so I know what it needs.

'There's been no official contact but I know what a great club it is.

'We'll just have to wait and see.'

Meanwhile you Black Cats need to get behind Dean Whitehead and take the full six points from the head-to-head with the Baggies. They're toothless now without Miller so make the most of it!
