Despite Sunderland's latest defeat Danny Collins knows that safety is still in their own hands.
Relying on others isn't something that you want but Collins knows that survival is still in the Black Cats' own hands at the moment, and this is how he wants it to stay: 'The positive thing is that it's still in our own hands,' Collins told the media. 'We don't want to rely on anyone else doing us a favour, and we have to get something from the next two games to make sure it stays that way.'
Defeats for everyone around Sunderland helped over the weekend but the defender is concerned that this can change and doesn't want to have to go into the final match of the season against Chelsea having to know they must win to stay up, adding: 'You are always hoping the teams around you will lose, and that's what happened this weekend.
'We knew a win against Everton would just about keep us safe, but it was another flat performance and now it's looks like we're going to have to do it at Bolton and Pompey.
'We really don't want it to go into the last game against Chelsea because everyone knows how tough that will be.'
Do you think that Sunderland can keep survival in their own hands? And do you think that this will go down to the final match of the season against Chelsea?
