'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Saturday's Transfer Rumours

Here`s a look at all the transfer rumours from today`s press involving SAFC.

• Steve Bruce would like to sign Newcastle defender Sebastein Bassong. Bassong was one of the few bright spots for the Mags this season, but signalled his intention to leave the club last month as he did not want to play Championship football. Speaking prior to the Toon going Doon: "Everybody knows that I am an ambitious boy, and playing Championship football never crossed my mind.

'You have to have a plan for your career, and playing in the second division would be a step backwards.'

However, potential problems over a move include Shearer`s £15m valuation and apparent interest from Arsenal.

• Bruce is also interested in Rosenborg`s former Newcastle target Per Ciljan Skjelbred. The Norwegian International midfielder could cost as much as £5m.

• According to today`s Daily Star, Rangers midfielder Steven Davis could be on his way to Wearside £5m. The Northern Ireland International has been linked with the club a few times over the last couple of months.

• Czech Republic International Radoslav Kovac has been linked with a move to the club in the Russian media. Kovac made nine appearances for West Ham on loan last season, but the move is unlikely to be made permanent due to Spartak Moscow`s valuation of the player. Hull and Blackburn are also said to be interested.
