Stokes joins Hibs
Anthony Stokes has joined Hibs for an undisclosed fee.
The Republic of Ireland international striker was signed by Roy Keane after he scored 16 goals in 18 games during a loan spell with Falkirk. However, he failed to continue that success following the £2m move from Arsenal, scoring just three goals.
The most notable event during his time at the Stadium of Light was after he scored the winner against Derby in December 2007. He was banned from the Glass Spider club in Sunderland after Keane complained that it was a distraction. Keano claimed that he could go as far as he wants in football but could just as easily be playing non-league football within a few years.
Last season, Stokes was loaned to Championship clubs Sheffield United and Crystal Palace, but again Stokes struggled, scoring just once in 25 games collectively. Now he will certainly hope that a move across the border will reignite his career and help him find the form which saw Sunderland battle Charlton and Celtic for his signature.
