Cattermole Fighting Fit

Cattermole, 21, was poor on Sunday against a stubborn Fulham and was replaced on the hour mark by Bolo Zenden, but he has assured all Sunderland fans he is doing everything to be fully fit for the Bolton game next Tuesday.

Cattermole has recently returned from injury and suspension and has been training hard in the gym and wants to ensure he can turn things around at his new club.

Cattermole said: 'I'm feeling good physically. I went to see the nutritionist last week and I've lost a couple of kilos over the course of about 10 days.

'The suspension I had after getting sent off at Portsmouth gave me the chance to work harder with the fitness coach, rather than train with the rest of the team, who had short sessions because of the number of games.

'I went to see the nutritionist off my own bat really. It was a good chance to get in a kind of mini pre-season with the fitness coach. I
did that all after the Portsmouth game.

'I did two sessions in the gym every day and I came in last Monday, when most of the other players were off, to put in some work and try and get a bit of extra fitness in the bank.'

Cattermole is also looking forward for working with Stuart Pearce with the England U21 squad this week to further enhance his fitness.

Catts added: 'I missed a couple of their games while I was out injured, so I'm looking forward to getting back into it.

'Stuart Pearce gave me a call the other day to see how I was doing and it will be good for me to link up with the Under-21s again.

'I had a tough summer with the Under-21s and, when I got injured, I thought at least I would come back stronger and see the back end of the season through.'
