Centre Half or Centre Forward?

Centre Half or Centre Forward?

Last away game of the season against Wolves we were all left wondering if Bruce knew what he was doing with a certain tactical decision.

Michael Turner was sent off and the Bruce decided to leave Paulo Da Silva on the bench and try and fill the defensive hole by moving Jones into a defender. This riled me as a travelling supporter to see a striker be put into defence but maybe it is something Bruce wants to try for this new season.

Last night he started Jones alongside Anton Ferdinand in defence and he had a brilliant game. Some fans who travelled have said he played better as a centre half than he ever did as a centre forward.

Jones is certainly an important player for us rather than scoring goals but also from set pieces in our own box. He is able to win the ball from crosses easy and he is also quick to keep up with the fastest forwards in the league.

Will Bruce try this month against Birmingham or is he just testing the water before we sign another defender.

If it works Bruce will have unearthed a gem. As a physical prescence Jones has all the attributs needed.

Can't see that happening with Brambles arrival. There are too many CB's already without Jones dropping back. He works good with Bent as well up front!

Keep him up front his height is a pain for defences. Brucie likes to tinker with players position though he switched Richardson to left back I think its ok to keep them on thier toes but switching a striker to defender is too much.

Dion Dublin and Gary Doherty proved it can work... didn't Carragher join Liverpool as a striker?
