Gordon To Return Next Week

Sunderland have been without Gordon with a broken wrist bone this season and Simon Mignolet has stepped in to replace the injured Scotsman.

However, Steve Bruce has confirmed that Gordon could be back in the first team against West Ham next week.

Sunderland face the Hammers in the Carling cup on Tuesday and will be happy to see the Scottish goalkeeper back in action so soon.

Bruce said: ''Craig is on schedule. If he is physically fit, the West Ham match in the Carling Cup next week is the game I will think about playing him in.'
