'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Do You Want The Good Or Bad News?

Sunderland will have John Mensah on the sidelines, as usual, for the whole of the Christmas campaign with an ankle injury.

The manager told Sunderland's official website: 'John Mensah has got a bad ankle.

'It's unlikely we'll see him in action over Christmas.'

He was injured during the weekend against Bolton as he was brought down by Elmander in his own half.

Sunderland will be relieved however to hear that Titus Bramble has returned to light training after his knee operation.

He may still miss the games this month but hopefully will be back for Blackburn Rovers if he has no knock-on effect from his operation in training.

Michael Turner is still a few weeks away but with Anton Ferdinand and Onuoha forming another defensive partnership we have to hope for this to grow over Christmas.
