Mensah Red Card Appeal Successful

Sunderland launched the appeal after Kevin Friend gave Mensah a straight red card for an incident he never spotted himself!

The decision, like the penalty, was spotted by the linesman and Sunderland felt the wrong decision was made.

The disciplinary committee agreed that Mensah should not have received the red card and will be available for our next game.

Steve Bruce said: 'We thank the FA for considering our appeal and naturally we're delighted he'll be available for the game against Manchester City.'

If only the penalty decision could be rescinded we may have had a good Sunday afternoon!
