Bruce said: "They are going to be 50-50 for the game, no more than that.

"We will just have to wait and see how the next few days pan out for them.

"They are probably quite hopeful they will play because both of them hate missing games.

"However, we do not want to aggravate what is already a pretty desperate injury situation even further, so unless we are confident they will be fine they will not be risked."

Cattermole, who has just returned from a lengthy spell, is rated at 50/50 as he picked up a knock in the woeful 3-0 defeat to Fulham.

The manager added: "It is a different back problem to the one which kept him out for months, but it is something we are keeping an eye on - like Jordan`s situation.

"They are both things which can subside quickly or flare up quickly, and it is going to be a case of making a judgement closer to matchday."
