Arminia Bielefeld 1 - 1 Sunderland

Arminia Bielefeld 1 - 1 Sunderland

Steve Bruce handed out four debuts to his new players with Dong-Won, Wickham, O'Shea and Vaughan making an appearance today for Sunderland.

Sadly, John O'Shea picked up a slight niggle and had to be replaced in the opening half but was taken off only as a precaution rather than a serious injury.

Sunderland were trailing in the second half as a very soft penalty was awarded against Elmo for a push inside the box.

However, substitute Sessesgnon got the equaliser after a well worked move led to a corner from Seb Larsson.

The importance of having Larsson from set pieces will be massive for Sunderland this season as his delivery fell to Turner who backheeled it across for Sessegnon to score the goal.

A good run out for the lads, who are still getting used to each other, and will set us up nicely for the next friendly this week.
