Malbranque: THE BIG DEBATE!

Fans favourite Steed Malbranque has been a topic of discussion since the season ended in May. Will he be sold to lower our wage bill or can he compete with the new arrivals on Wearside?

There is no questioning Malbranque's technical ability and cool head under pressure but some fans expect more from the crafty midfielder.

Steed came out yesterday and publicly declared that he wants to fight for his place and be placed amongst the strikers.

He has scored only one goal in three years for Sunderland so what makes him say this?

He was quoted as saying: "I am very happy at Sunderland and I want to stay as long as possible."

We ask all Vital readers to take part in our poll.

Should we:

Sell Malbranque?
Keep Malbranque?

Give reasons on the forum as to why you made your decision also.

If selling Stead means we can lower the wage bill and bring in Zog then I say sell him. At best he'll be a squad player this season.
