Mignolet out for 'months not weeks'
Steve Bruce has confirmed that goalkeeper Simon Mignolet will be out for 'months'.
The 23 year-old Belgian stopper broke his nose in a clash with Emile Heskey last Saturday.
But, following surgery it has been revealed that Mignolet also fractured his eye socket in the accidental collision.
Speaking to The Northern Echo, Bruce said:
"Rather than a couple of weeks it will be a couple of months. The broken nose is as bad as I`ve ever seen and he`s fractured the eye socket as well.'
The gaffer also confirmed that Kieren Westwood - signed on a free transfer from Coventry over the summer, will step in whilst Mignolet is absent.
There was further bad news on the injury front with regards to John O'Shea. The Irishman has a re-occurance of the hamstring problem which robbed him of part of pre-season.
