Black Cats to travel to Peterborough

Today`s F.A Cup 3rd round draw pitched Sunderland against Peterborough United at London Road.

The clash will take place on the weekend of 7th/8th of January.

The Black Cat`s recent F.A Cup history has been somewhat inauspicious. Last season a Lee Hughes-inspired Notts County dumped the Black Cats out 2-1 at the Stadium of Light.

The previous season, 2009/10, was equally dismal, a 3-0 win over non-league Barrow at SOL was ruined by a 2-1 loss at Portsmouth in the 4th round.

The 4th round was Sunderland`s resting place in 2008/09 as well, having beaten Bolton 2-1 at SOL, Blackburn Rovers knocked Roy Keane`s side out at the second attempt at Ewood Park.

Here`s hoping that today is the start of a better cup run for Martin O`Neill`s side!
