O'Neill chasing Premier League trio?

New Black Cats' boss Martin O'Neill has barely had time to put his feet under the table and already he is being linked with a treble swoop of Premier League players.

According to Caught Offside, O'Neill will move for Manchester United's Darron Gibson, Tottenham's Vedran Corluka and West Brom's Peter Odemwingie.

The trio are all out of out favor at their respective clubs and with O'Neill set to be handed a sizable transfer kitty for January, the tabloids will doubtless be in overdrive.

Whether these moves will come off - who knows, but it is well-known we need a striker, a full-back and that Gibson was in contract talks with the club in the summer.

I daresay more and more names will be linked with the club in the next 26 days, before the window opens for business.

Not sure that Spurs will sell Corluka in Jan, though he isn't in the clubs long term plans. His versatility is likely to mean that unless we bring in one defender and are happy to use Gallas or Kaboul as RB cover for Walker, you might have to wait until the summer before being able to sign him, but I assume there will be plenty of offers for him

I do tend to agree with you. A competent defender who is versatile. With Spurs' well documented defensive problems it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to keep hold of him. I'd personally snap him up though!
