Posh F.A Cup clash date set

Sunderland will kick-off their F.A Cup campaign on Sunday January 8 with a live clash against Peterborough United.

The Championship side will host the Black Cats live on ITV1 in the F.A Cup 3rd round tie, which will kick off at 3.30pm.

In other Sunderland news, former Hibernian 'head of performance', Jim Henry has joined the club's backroom staff. The role he will fulfill is as yet, unknown.

Martin O'Neill has confirmed that he will try to persuade long-term assistant manager John Robertson to join him at the Stadium of Light.

If O'Neill fails to bring in Robertson, he will not look to appoint an alternative, according to The Jarrow & Hebburn Gazette
