O'Neill to be re-united with Collins?

Sunderland are being linked with a move to re-united Martin O'Neill with Aston Villa defender James Collins.

The 28 year-old centre-back is out of contract at Villa Park next summer and despite being a regular under Alex McLeish, his place is under threat to raise transfer funds.

According to Sky Sports News, Sunderland will rival Queens Park Rangers to capture the former West Ham and Cardiff City man.

The Black Cats are fairly well set at centre-half with four senior options in Wes Brown, John O'Shea, Michael Turner and Titus Bramble.

Even under those four there are options with youngster John Egan and Louis Laing backing up Nyron Nosworthy and Matt Kilgallon.
