O'Neill: 'Three very important points for us'

Martin O'Neill praised his side this afternoon following a 2-0 triumph over Swansea City at the Stadium of Light.

Whilst the Swans controlled a whopping 60% of the ball, O'Neill was left to eulogize over two smart finishes from Stephane Sessegnon and substitute Craig Gardner.

Speaking to the Official Site afterwords, the gaffer said:

'I'm delighted we've won the game. It was a case of two fantastic finishes and three very important points for us.'

O'Neill continued:

'I think everything just caught up with the players today; they looked a little bit leggy at times, but nonetheless they stuck in at it.

'The swirling wind probably didn't help, but it was a game we had to win and we did just that.

'I think Swansea had one real opportunity on goal, we scored not long after and that deflated them and gave us a little momentum.'

Sunderland are at home again in eight days time when they play host the local rivals Middlesbrough in the F.A Cup 4th round.
