Elmo: 'I'm leaning towards leaving'

Versatile Egyptian Ahmed Elmohamady has admitted today that he is 'leaning towards' leaving Sunderland this summer.

The former ENPPI winger-cum-full-back was a regular under Steve Bruce whilst on-loan last season but has failed to start once under Martin O'Neill.

In fact the £2.5m summer signing has been restricted to just five substitute appearances since the O'Neill reign began in December.

Speaking to The Northern Echo, Elmohamady said:

'At the moment I'm leaning towards leaving, that's my thought, but I have not made a final decision.'

The utility player continued:

'I spoke with [Martin] O'Neill before joining the team's training camp in Egypt and he promised to give me a chance in the remaining games in the Premier League, and then things will become clearer for the future with the team.'

Elmohamady, 24, denies that there is any kind of problem between himself and O'Neill but is adamant that his mind is not made up, although he would like to stay in England if he left Wearside.
