Gordon to leave Sunderland this summer
Scottish international Craig Gordon is set to leave Sunderland this summer with his contract due to expire at the end of June.
The former Hearts custodian has endured a horrendous 14 months of injury and has fallen behind both Simon Mignolet and Kieran Westwood in the pecking order.
Gordon, who cost £9m under Roy Keane's management, is one of the higher earners in the squad and will be allowed to leave at the end of the campaign in order to free up some of the wage budget.
Martin O'Neill has been keen not to slam the door in Gordon's face, however with the Scot looks unlikely to prove his worth between now and the end of the season with just three games to play.
Gordon is the only senior player at the Stadium of Light who is out of contract this summer, apart from loan players Wayne Bridge & Nicklas Bendtner.
