Wickham to return to Ipswich on loan?

According to Sunday's papers, striker Connor Wickham could be set for a loan return to first club Ipswich.

The 18 year-old forward, who commanded a whopping £8m transfer fee last summer, has failed to make much of an impact at the Stadium of Light so far.

Injuries have hampered the progress of the England U21 international who has notched just once in 15 appearances for the Black Cats.

With Nicklas Bendtner, Frazier Campbell and Ji Dong-Won all ahead of the former Tractor Boy at present and strikers on Martin O'Neill's shopping list this summer a loan move could be for the best.

Town boss Paul Jewell is said to be keen on bringing the club's former protegee back to Suffolk.
