England eliminate Larsson's Sweden
England's exploits last night came at a cost for Sweden and Sunderland's Sebastian Larsson in particular as Sweden crashed out.
Defeat by Ukraine in their opening game set the Swedes up for a make-or-break crash with England, and, despite a second-half rally, Roy Hodgson's side were victorious.
England went ahead through Andy Carroll's fine flicked header however Larsson's compatriots equalised through Olof Mellberg.
The former Aston Villa defender then put Larsson and co. back in the lead before late strikes from Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck secured an unlikely win for England.
Larsson was unimpressed by England's tactics, bemoaning the 'defensive' nature of Hodgson's side to the BBC:
'Against England it feels like we were the best team, but it isn't always the best team that wins.' Said Larsson
'It is about taking points, and we didn't do that.
'It doesn't really matter now we are out of the tournament, but we were definitely better than England, but they are leaving with the points, so what can you say?'
