OFFICIAL: Turner joins Norwich City

Sunderland defender Michael Turner has this afternoon joined Norwich City on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 28 year-old centre-back, signed from Hull City in 2009, spent three injury-plagued seasons on Wearside after signing from the Tigers for a fee of £4m.

Turner was given permission to speak to Chris Hughton yesterday before undergoing a medical with the Norfolk club.

Last season saw the former Charlton Athletic, Leyton Orient and Brentford defender battle with new signings John O'Shea and Wes Brown in the pecking order whilst Matt Kilgallon and Titus Bramble super-seeded him at times.

Lewisham-born Turner made 29 appeearances for Sunderland last season, taking his tally up to 67 league starts for the Black Cats, scoring once against Wolves in the Premier League.

Speaking of his move to Carrow Road, Turner told canaries.co.uk that he was impressed by the Canaries last season:

"I`ve heard a lot of people say good things about what he [boss Chris Hughton] does and has done in the game, so I`m just pleased to be a part of his team.

"I was really impressed with Norwich last season. I was on the bench for the game at Carrow Road, and I got to see them play, so I was impressed with the players, the stadium, and the whole set up of the Club.'

Good luck Michael, and thanks for your service from Vital Sunderland!
