Elmo set for clarity on Sunderland role

Right-sided utility man Ahmed Elmohamady is set to get clarity on his role at the Stadium of Light after Martin O'Neill revealed that he will speak to the Egyptian's agent this week.

The 24 year-old Egyptian, who made just seven starts and 11 substitute appearances last term, failed to start a single game under O'Neill, appointed in December .

Despite rumours linking the former ENPPI winger-cum-full-back with a reunion with former boss Steve Bruce at Hull City and newly-promoted West Ham, Elmohamady remains on the books at the Stadium of Light.

Speaking to The Sunderland Echo, O'Neill revealed that the player's agent would meet with him this week:

"I haven`t spoken to Elmo directly yet, but his agent is scheduled for talks with me in the next few days,' confirmed O'Neill.

Interest from Bruce, the man who signed Elmohamady, is thought to be serious but O'Neill is not yet looking to move any senior fringe players out on loan:

"I`ve had a number of calls from people interested in taking players on loan - not just younger players, either.

"Eventually, I will have a look and see what is the best thing for the football club and for the players themselves.'
