O'Neill: 'We should have been out of sight'

Martin O'Neill was left disappointed once against as he watched his Sunderland side extend their nightmare run of results against bogey side Everton.

It all started well enough for the Black Cats, with winger Adam Johnson grabbing his first goal for the club in the first-half.

However, with the Lads slowly edging towards a first win against the Toffees in nearly 11 years, 76th and 79th minute goals from Maroune Fellaini and Nikica Jelavic turned the game on it's head & won the tie for David Moyes' side.

Speaking afterwards to safc.com O'Neill said his side 'should have been out of site':

"The game should have been out of sight by half time," admitted the gaffer.

"We played brilliantly and should have been three goals up before the break.'

The Ulsterman continued:

"We lost the game but we shouldn`t have. It wasn`t through lack of effort, commitment or determination. We will come good."

Sunderland now face another tricky away trip, this time to face Fulham at Craven Cottage next Sunday.
