OFFICIAL: Saha contract mutually terminated
Striker Louis Saha leaves Sunderland after his contract was mutually terminated, as expected.
The 34 year-old had been told by Martin O'Neill that he could leave the Stadium of Light earlier in the month and the French forward has now completed his Wearside exit.
With Danny Graham signed in a £5m deal earlier in the day, the former Everton, Manchester United, Spurs and Fulham forward was no longer part of O'Neill's plans.
Signed on a free transfer following his release by Spurs last summer, Saha made just 12 substitute appearances for the Black Cats and two starts - those both coming in the Capital One Cup.
Speaking to the Official Sunderland Site, Sunderland CEO Margaret Byrne wished the striker all the best in the future:
"We wish Louis all the very best for the future and thank him for his contribution to Sunderland."
The player Tweeted:
@louissaha08 "I can now officially say that SunderlandAfc and I find a mutual agreement to terminate my contract. I want to thank fans, players and staff."
Good luck, Louis!
