'If It's Football, It's Vital'

O'Neill: 'We need to get some points on the board'

Martin O'Neill was downbeat following Sunderland's 3-1 defeat the hands of Queens Park Rangers, admitting his side 'need to get some points on the board soon'.

The Black Cats took the lead at Loftus Road when Steven Fletcher prodded home from close-range, but the lead lasted just 10 minutes before Loic Remy equalised.

Andros Townsend scored a belting volley to put the hosts in front 20 minutes from time before Jermaine Jenas rounded off the win with a 90th minute half-volley to kill the game off.

Speaking afterwards to the Sunderland Official Site, O'Neill lamented the nature of the Hoops second goal:

"We put ourselves in front and it`s a wonder-goal from them to take the game to 2-1,' noted the Ulsterman.

"From the second half onwards we looked as though we were in control of the game and that`s the frustrating aspect of it," O`Neill continued.

"When times are tough you`re never in control until you see it on the scoreboard.'

O'Neill continued:

"It`s a tough old set of fixtures for us between now and the end of the season.

"We need to get some points on the board.'

Sunderland host Norwich City live on Sky next Sunday.
