Poyet Proud Of His Players After Chelsea Thriller

Gus Poyet admitted that while it was disappointing to see his side lose at home to Chelsea even after scoring three goals, he did feel that there was positives that could be taken from the game.

Since Poyet took over at the club, there have been good home performances against Newcastle, Manchester City at Southampton and he knew that his side was fired up to make it as difficult as possible for the visitors.

Before the game Poyet had demanded that his side create more and go for goals and thats just what happened, but there was a bit to be desired from the defence but take nothing away from Chelsea, the two goals that came from Eden Hazard were class efforts.

"I`m proud of the players," he told reporters. "No, I am.
"I`m still upset we lost but I know I have to be positive.

"The fans I think enjoyed it - it`s the sort of games fans love up here - all action and plenty of goals."

Three goals in one game against top class opposition is just the tonic that Poyet needed, but when he faced the cameras after the game, there was no hiding the fact he wasn`t 100% happy to have shipped in four.

The lads didn't do much wrong last night, the first Chelsea goal could have been defended better and the Bardsley own goal was just one of those things. Deffo better though

Chelsea were a class act and we did ever so well to hang on at times.
