Wickham Future Not Decided Yet Despite Reports

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has said that there is no truth in the reports that Connor Wickham will definitely be leaving the club when his loan spell ends.

The striker will come back to the Stadium of Light when his loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday comes to an end and his future will be discussed then but reports that have it that he will go back to Sheffield on a permanent basis are wide of the mark.

The England under 21 striker has been doing well at Hillsborough since joining last month and he has fired in for goals in six games for the managerless outfit.

And that's the sort of form that would see the Black Cats bring in a sizable return of their original 8million investment in the player, but Poyet wants to sit the youngster down and hold talks over his future after his loan spell expires on New Year's Day.

Poyet told SportMail: "Nothing`s been decided; although it`s not something I would usually comment on.

"But we haven`t even talked about that (a permanent departure).

"He needs to play and after he gets back from loan, we will talk with him as well.

"We knew he needed to play a few games and we`re keeping an eye on him."

I think we should keep him for now he will come good soon enough and his price can only rise.
