Catts Stunned By Great Escape.

Lee Cattermole says that he has been left absolutely stunned by the fact that Sunderland managed to avoid the drop into the Championship after all looked lost.

The drop looked to be odds on just a couple of weeks ago when nothing seemed to go right for Poyet's side, but then everything clicked into place after a run of eight games produced just one point.

The lads then managed a draw at Manchester City in a game that they could have won and they followed that up with four straight victories over Chelsea, Cardiff, Manchester United and West Brom.

The performances is all those games has been described as 'absolutely incredible' by Cattermole.

He told Sky Sports: 'I think there will be a day in the summer when we wake up and think: 'That was some achievement'.

'It hasn't sunk in yet, but, as lads, we have got to thank everyone who has had to deal with the whole season.

'We have stuck together and come through it. We don't know how, but the results have been absolutely incredible. There isn't another word.'

The Black Cats are now sat in 14th place and another win on Sunday in the final game against Swansea could lift them to 12th place and 41 points.
