'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fletcher Eager To Get Started Says Poyet.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet takes his side into the pre-season warm up games knowing that striker Steven Fletcher is fit and raring to get started.

Last season, Fletcher had a bit of a torrid time, he only managed to score three times but he did have more than his fair share of injuries, in fact he missed the final three months of the season with an ankle injury when Sunderland needed all hands on deck.

Poyet says that the 27 year old cannot wait to get started and he is looking forward to a more successful season.

He told the club's official website: 'Fletch came back a week early to make sure he started running with no reactions. I saw him yesterday and everything looks fine.

'He's excited. People don't know sometimes that the players are like any of us. When you like so much to play football you're excited about the chance to go back.'
