Ultimatum For Wickham.

Ultimatum For Wickham.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has said that is getting close to the time that Connor Wickham must either sign a new deal with the club or move on.

The striker made a big impact when he came back to the club towards the end of last season and played a major part in getting Sunderland out of trouble at the bottom of the league.

Talks have been going on between club and player/agent all summer but so far there are no signs that Wickham will sign a new deal and he only has twelve months of his existing contract to go.

And with that in mind, the club are very wary that they could end up losing his services on a free transfer, something that happened with Jack Colback and they don't want that again.

"For me, Connor`s situation is clear," said Poyet.

"He needs to sign a new contract or we let him go - we sell him.

"There is nothing in between.

We paid good money for him and he has been on high wages, so is it too much to expect some loyalty?
