'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Alan Smith Linked With S'Land

Smith, who has only recently returned from a very serious injury, is likely to be shipped out on loan to gain some valuable first-team football in order to get back to full fitness.

The former Leeds United striker can operate as an out-and-out striker or alternatively as a midfielder.

One thing that will appeal to the 26-year-old is the fact that his former team-mate, Roy Keane, is now in charge of the Black Cats.

Other clubs reportedly in the running for Smith are: Middlesbrough; Newcastle; Everton; Cardiff; Leeds; Ipswich and Birmingham.

The report I read said A Smith was coming to Sunderland Football Club. Turns out it was a SMITHY - a blacksmith who was required to fix damage caused to the wrought iron gates outside the club. Seems some drunken Irishmen tried to get into the club to steal some recent trophies. All they found were 2 big wooden Premiership spoons !!

Like the sarkie comment from pompeygray! A few sour grapes in there with this one! Not many clubs seem to have been able to reshuffle there teams and buy all the new players that they want this season. No difference here either.
