'If It's Football, It's Vital'

S'land tie up Northumberland trip

Kevin Richardson will take a reserve team to Sheilfield Park on Wednesday February 21st. Kick-off is 7:45pm but no ticket details have been released yet.

Sunderland have not been entered into a reserve league this season since dropping out of the English Premier League. They had the option to join the Pontins' League, but instead opted to arrange their own games in order to find oppostion of a higher calibre.

Keane said: 'We've had a busy schedule over the Christmas period but things have started to settle down and hopefully we will have some more reserve fixtures.

'The games offer the lads coming back from injuries a chance to boost their match fitness and the players who are not in the team the chance to impress.

'They might be friendlies but the players have showed the right attitude and they are worthwhile workouts.'

'I'm delighted with the players - the attitude they have shown and if they keep the same desire and attitude we'll be all right.'
