Grayson Reveals McNair Return
As Sunderland manager Simon Grayson met with the media yesterday, he revealed that Northern Ireland international Paddy McNair had now returned to training.
With Duncan Watmore making his first team return and continuing to build his fitness following his spell out injured, McNair has also been on a long journey back after he picked up a severe knee injury last November - but after nine hard months on the sidelines he's now back out on the training pitch with the lads.
Grayson told the Official Site that McNair could in fact feature for us in the friendly against Hertha Berlin next week.
'Paddy is back training with us now. It might be that he`s pencilled in for some part against Hertha Berlin and it would be a nice boost for us.'
Grayson went on to say that he feels when back up to full speed McNair will certainly be a good additional option for him to call upon, and he also sees his versatility as being an asset in particular - even if he prefers the midfielder role.
'I see him as a good addition to the squad in many different positions. Paddy will be the first to admit that he sees himself as a midfield player and he will be a good player in there because of his height, his strength and energy. That is what we need.'
