Nosworthy Relishing Match

Nyron Nosworthy is relishing the derby against Newcastle. The former Gillingham player is on form currently and is looking to extend that into the derby game.

“It will be good to test myself against Alan Shearer and Michael Owen, I will be looking to prove a point against them. Players like Shearer and Owen are the kind of people I have grown up watching on television and I’m enjoying coming up against these kind of players every weekend in the Premiership. This is something I am relishing.”

“The step up to the Premiership has been good, I think that I needed it. Sometimes you can get a bit settled and there is no real pressure. No disrespect to Gillingham but it is completely different being here. I feel that I have found my feet in the Premiership. I have learnt from all the games I have played, learnt from all the different opponents I have played against.”

“I thought I would have to bide my time, I came here to train well and work hard and do well for the reserves and compete with him for a place in the team but I knew it would be difficult. It was a case of waiting for my chance and it came a lot quicker than I expected. I feel differently about it now. I’m in the team, I have been given my chance, and I think I have taken it. I just have to continue playing well and playing every game as if I want to keep my place in the team, which I obviously do.”
