Bristol City Comeback Has To Be A Catalyst - Honeyman
Midfielder George Honeyman has said Sunderland's three goal fightback against Bristol City at the weekend had to be a catalyst for the side for the remainder of the campaign.
With more minutes under his belt this year than anyone else in the side, Honeyman explained that he was hungry for more game time and greater success in results and he knew there were enough games left, and points to play for, to turn our season around.
Playing his part in the fight back as we found ourselves three goals down at Ashton Gate, Honeyman told the Official Site that having proven they are capable, the players simply have to use that game as a catalyst moving forward and we must ensure we show those performance levels in the matches that remain.
'That gave everyone a lift, the fans at the end too. We have a massive couple of weeks coming up and we have to go into it on a high after Bristol, go into Saturday confident of getting the three points if we play like we did second half.'
Honeyman went on to repeat what Lee Cattermole had said the other day, we can't let the levels slip from that match now, it has to be our baseline for 90 minutes as the last thing we want to do is waste our efforts in gaining that result.
'This is something we really need to build on from now, let`s not waste the result. I don`t know why it is we started so bad, whether it is nervous energy around the place, but at least we showed the character to come back.'
'There felt a real togetherness and we need to carry on with it. We have the quality, we need to build on this and see where it takes us.'
