Sunderland Sign Harte

Ian Harte has signed a 1 year contract for Sunderland after impressing on trial. The former Leeds full back left Levante in the summer.

He told Sunderland`s official site "This is a good opportunity for me at a massive club like Sunderland and there are plenty of Irish lads here to make me feel welcome."

Keane told the site "I`ve played alongside Ian and know the qualities he can bring to our club. You need a big squad in the Premier League and he will add strength to ours."

I am pleased to see we have finally signed someone for our problem left back position. Danny Collins to me is a more natural centre back than a left back. He is a good defender but isn`t very good at going forward
