'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sunderland`s Kavanagh wants to stay.

Graham Kavanagh has told of his desire to stay and prove himself to the manager and the fans. Kavanagh who played 60 minutes in last nights reserve game told safc.com

"The fitness is really good. I`ve played seven or eight games now and it is improving all the time.

"I`d like to think I`m part of the manager`s plans. I certainly don`t want to leave the club and I`m looking to play a big part"

Roy Keane confirmed Kavanagh is still in his plans he told safc.com

"Kav is part of my plans,The downside for him is that he's coming back from a long-term injury and that he plays in the middle of the park - one of our strongest positions.

'He has just fallen behind. When you've been out for that length of period, you do need games. He's played the last few reserve games and he's played very well."

'It will do Kav the world of good; we all know what a good player he is.'

Meanwhile Jack Pelter has extended his stay by signing a 12 month contract. The New Zealander signed on a month`s contract about a fortnight ago.
