Sunderland sign Reid

Sunderland have completed the signing of Ireland international midfielder Andy Reid from Charlton. Reid is Keane`s fifth January signing and will cost the Blackcats around 4 million pounds.


Keane told safc.com 'Andy brings added quality to our side in an area that I feel needed to be strengthened. It's always healthy to have competition for places in the squad. I'm sure he'll well for the club.'


Vital Sunderland Says

Reid is a good signing for us as we have struggled for wingers this season with both Richardson and Edwards sidelined for most of the campaign.

Once upon a time I had high hopes for Andy Reid. I think his time with us was a disaster for the lad. One thing I'll say is that he's desperately short of pace, although he has a few little tricks in his locker. I hope he turns it round with you guys. Good luck with him.
