Sunderland V Liverpool

Finally the first game of the new season is nearly upon us. Liverpool make the trip to Wearside for Sunderland`s curtain raiser.

Liverpool are tipped by many to challenge for the title this season and with the 20 million signing of Robbie Keane who would bet against them.

Lets hope we can pull off another shock by grabbing all three points like we did at the start of last season.

Sunderland Team News:

We are without Dwight Yorke, Paul McShane and Kenwyne Jones.

New signings El Hadji Diouf, Steed Malbranque, Teemu Tainio and Pascal Chimbonda are all expected to make their first competitive debuts for the club.

Player to watch: Michael Chopra

Will be looking to prove his worth before his ban comes into force.

Liverpool Team News:

Liverpool are without the injured duo of P Degen and M Skrtel.

Stephen Gerrard is still regaining his fitness lets hope he has some time to rest and is left on the bench.

Player to watch: Fernando Torres

The Spaniard will be looking to get his partnership with new signing Robbie Keane off to a good start.

Match Facts & Stats

Last time at the Stadium of Light we lost 2-0 Mohammed Sissko scored a 20 yard screamer with Voronin getting the second.

Ref Watch:

Alan Wiley

Match Prediction:

Three points would be nice but I can`t see it. I can see us getting a result thou and if we can raise our game I think a draw would suit us. 1-1 Draw
