Sunderland vs. Northampton

Stadium of light

23rd September 2008

19:45

Sunderland V Northampton

Sunderland welcome league one`s Northampton to the Stadium of Light for the third round of the League Cup.

Northampton managed to dump out Premiership Bolton in the second round so Roy Keane`s men won`t be in for an easy ride.

Sunderland Team News:

Sunderland are without Kenwyne Jones and Teemu Tainio

George McCartney is cup tied after having played for West Ham in the second round.

Player to watch: Michael Chopra

Chops is in fine form at the minute and who would bet against him scoring.

Northampton Team News:

Northampton are without Chris Doig through injury and Karl Hawley who is cup tied.

Player to watch: Saheed Adebayo Akinfenwa

He is big and strong so Ferdinard and Nuggsy will have to be on their toes for the Northampton Striker.

Match Facts & Stats

In our last 5 meetings with Northampton on Wearside we have Won 3, Lost 1 and Drew 1.

Match Prediction:

3-1 Win, I think we will be too strong for Northampton but who knows can they cause us an upset.
