Chelsea vs. Sunderland

Stamford Bridge

16/01/10

Chelsea V Sunderland

Steve Bruce is hoping the sunshines on his players as they took a trip to Portugal this week. They may need the luck of the Sun gods as they face top of the league Chelsea this weekend. Sunderland could not face Chelsea at a better time with Mikel, Drogba, Essien and Kalou on International duty with the African Nations. With Chelsea on a bad run of form this is the time for SAFC to show they can mix it up with the big boys.

Vital Quotes: Steve Bruce

'On our day, we know we have got some very talented footballers who can produce a level. The big question mark over us is we haven't done it consistently enough.

'Against the big teams when there is no expectation, we have done extremely well. I hope that continues.

'We will have to be at our best. You know when you go to Chelsea that you will have to be at your best because if you are not, you know what the consequences are.

'We have to be at our best and hope we catch Chelsea not at their best.'

Chelsea Team News:

With four players away on International duty this is the best time to play Chelsea, lets hope they cannot cope with the passion of the Sunderland players on Saturday.

Player to watch: Anelka

The last time Anelka faced Sunderland he scored a hat - trick and our defence needs to keep sharp as he looks to take over Drogba's scoring record this season.

Sunderland Team News:

Turner faces his last match four game ban but Jones, Richardson, Zenden and Cattermole are all loking for a call up for this fixture.

Player to watch: Bent

He is the main man for SAFC as he looks to improve on his 13 goals in this league campaign. If Terry slips up the English hit man will look to add to his record this season.
