Sunderland 0 - Everton 1

The Stadium Of Light

9th March 2008 15:00

Attendance: 42595

Sunderland 0 Everton 1

Andy Johnson gave Sunderland the elbow in this encounter at the Stadium of Light. The Everton striker broke the deadlock minutes after the break to give Everton a controversial winner.

Sunderland played terrible in the first half as both side struggled to register a shot on goal.

Sunderland didn`t start to play well until they were a goal down.

Arteta supplied the cross that Andy Johnson poked home with his elbow.

Sunderland first real chance of the game followed when Leadbitter`s through ball found Richardson in the box. However Richardson failed to test Howard as his shot went narrowly wide.

You didn`t have to wait long for our second chance as Reid found Chopra in the box. Chopra turned his man and shot only for Jagielka to recover and block the resulting shot.

Sunderland`s next and last chance came when Bardsley was fouled on the edge of the area. Andy Reid took the free kick that he curled around the wall for Howard to make an outstanding save.
