Sunderland 1 Arsenal 1

Sunderland had victory snatched from them in the dieing seconds of the game with a Fabregas goal securing a share of the spoils for the gunners.

Roy Keane set his side out with a look as if they were planning to frustrate Wengers men. He went for a 4-5-1 system with Cisse upfront on his own.

Sunderland started the game well with Whitehead finding himself through on goal after been released by Malbranque. Whitehead of course tackled just as he was about to pull the trigger when Toure a last ditch challenge.

Reid and Cisse both had some good chances snuffed out by a stubborn Arsenal defense.

Fabregas had a long range effort well saved by Gordon as did Wallcott whose rasping drive was well blocked by Gordon for Ferdinand to clear.

After the break Richardson came close to breaking the dead lock as did Van Persie whose shot needed a point blank save from Gordon.

Keane then brought Leadbitter on who had an instant impact by unleashing an unstoppable shot in to the top corner of Almunia net.

As the game approached the end Arsenal managed to steal a share of points when Fabregas scored a last minute header from a Van Persie corner

Vital Sunderland Says

I was absolutely gutted at full time and where the hell did the officials find 4 minutes stoppage time?

Never mind I would have been happy with a draw before the game so I guess I a happy man tonight.

I'm embarassed to post here first -- I'm a City fan. You almost had them boys!! Lucky Arsenal once again. But compliments to you. Also I can't believe how well Keano has new signings Malbranque and Cisse playing.

Sunderland defended very well, but lucky Arsenal? If we were lucky we wouldn't of been denied a completely legitimate opener.

OK, it was in many ways an even game and Sunderland just managed to limit Arsenal. That's football. Some victories are never acknowledged. this was a victory. I saw Keano on TV after and he was almost apologetic. I don't get this. He isn't happy?

i would rather watch paint dry than pay for a season ticket if my team showed no ambition and played defensive football at home...pathetic....wheres the ambition?
