Extra time equaliser earns Newcastle a point

Sunderland meant business under Martin O'niell as he managed Them in his first Tyne wear derby.

Sunderland defended for their lives on Tyneside but came unstuck late on as Newcastle equalized.

Bendtner's penalty - given for a foul on Michael Turner - gave them something to hold onto in this clash of titans in the north East.

Their job was made tougher as Stephane Sessegnon was handed a straight red card just before the hour.

Simon Mignolet dramatically saved Demba Ba's penalty with eight minutes left but Substitute Shola Ameobi struck in injury time to cancel out Nicklas Bendtner's first-half opener.

The cherry on top of the cake for Newcastle's after thier equalizer was that Sunderland's Captain Lee Cattermole was also sent off for apparent dissent after the final whistle.

The game seemed a game of two halves with a draw the fair result. But what would the game have been with the majic of Sessegnon still on the pitch.

Star Player

Mignolet - Mad three great saves during the game including an incredible penalty save. 9/10
