Darlington 0 - Sunderland 2

TFM Arena

18/07/2007

Darlington 0 Sunderland 2

Greg Halford was Sunderland`s only new signing on display at the TFM Arena tonight. He put in a steady performance for his debut in front of 5,500 travelling fans.

We started the game well with a lot of possession and testing the Darlington keeper regularly. We finally broke the deadlock when Leadbitter`s cross-found Wallace just outside the area. Wallace took a touch and buried the past the helpless Darlo keeper.

Keano Changed practically the whole team at half time just leaving the impressive Clarke and Wallace on. The team seamed more vibrant after the break with the injection of pace from Hysen and Stokes.

The second goal was created by Big Stan he picked out Stokes with an excellent long ball, Stokes collected the ball using cracking control to fetch the ball down before placing the ball in the bottom corner.

A classy display from the former West Ham player

It was a scrappy game on a waterlogged pitch but Sunderland easily out classed Darlington. Wallace took his goal well and Stokes goal was top class even if it was very direct.
