Referee:

Sunderland were narrowly beating by Man City when Stephen Ireland hit an exquisite volley from Darius Vassell`s cross.

Sunderland had the chances to win the game with Collins, Stokes, Leadbitter and Jones all guilty of missing good chances.

Collins narrowly missed his chance after Harte put in an good in swinging corner from the right Collins just couldn`t get the direction.

Stokes managed to place his header wide when Leadbitter`s cross was put over with pinpoint accuracy.

Stokes then teed up for a shot for Leadbitter when he maybe should had a go himself. Leadbitters shot was high and wide.

Jones then had a chance to put Sunderland ahead only for his left footed shot to be hit straight at the keeper.

Then like as always when Sunderland have a good spell the opposition go up the other end and score. Ireland volleying his effort home leaving Gordon no chance.

Match Comment

How many times this season are we going dominate game only to concede a wonder goal? We need to start creating chances and converting them it has been apparent in recent games we don`t put enough quality crosses over for our forwards. We desperately need wingers who can beat their man and put a quality ball over.
